Toledo Mud Hens Home Plate Event
Home Plate is an outreach event at 5th/3rd Field sponsored by Baseball Chapel and its ministry with the Mud Hens. Emmanuel Baptist Church has been a sponsor of this event due to our support of Jeff Totten and Score Ministry. Jeff is the Chapel Leader for the Detroit Tigers and has held Home Plate Events in Detroit for over 20 years. Current and former players share their testimonies for Christ at the event. Some former speakers have been Former Tiger Great Willie Horton and former MLB pitcher Kent Bottenfield. The 2011 event was held on July 31st and featured several current Mud Hens. The featured speaker was Former Tigers reliever Todd Jones. Todd shared his testimony for Christ and a passion for serving the Savior. Over 900 people purchased tickets for the event and many heard the gospel message for the first time. We praise the Lord for this opportunity! Keep a look out for the date for 2012's event!
